Le Soleil, Le Quebec Chronicle Telegraph et l’immigration juive, 1925-1939

| Abstract |
The author expalins that a study of two Quebec City newspapers in the pre-Second World War era supports the hypothesis that a current of anti-Semitism ran throughout Quebec society. The author’s analysis of Le Soleil and the Quebec Chronicle Telegraph during this period reveals a common opposition to Jewish immigration in both newspapers, but a different attitude towards Jews. The French-language newspaper adopted an attitude with anti-Semitic overtones while the English-language newspaper did not speak offensively of Jews.
