Abstract |
A short 1934 documentary film, directed by Gordon Sparling and released by Associated Screen News, “Rhapsody in Two Languages” depicts a view of Montreal in the period of the Great Depression. The author points out that the film obliquely raised contemporary issues of concern to Montreal’s growing urban population during the period of economic and industrial crisis.
