Abstract
A self-described "provocative" account of the 78th Fraser's Highlanders and its crucial place in history. The author outlines the story of the men of this British Army infantry regiment of the line, from its roots in the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion in Scotland, through the Seven Years' War and the American Revolution, to the War of 1812. The Fraser Highlanders played a major role in defeating the French on Quebec's Plains of Abraham in 1759. Many of the Fraser Highlanders settled in Canada following the fall of New France, including in Quebec's Charlevoix region.
