Abstract |
The authors argue that there is a perceptible difference between Quebec English and English spoken west of Kingston. They conclude that this indicates that Montreal did not have a cohesive linguistic community of English speakers in the past, which they feel probably indicates a parallel lack of a cohesive cultural community.
