Abstract |
Arthur James Marshall Smith (1902-1980), better known as A.J.M. Smith, was a Montreal-born poet who, with Leon Edel, Leo Kennedy, A. M. Klein, F. R. Scott and other members of the "Montreal Group", helped usher in the modernist movement in Canadian poetry in the 1920s. In 1936 Smith became a professor at Michigan State College where he taught until his retirement in 1972.
