Quebec History Educators Speak: The Task Force Charts a New Course
|
Abstract |
The author offers a brief synopsis of the Quebec-wide survey conducted by the History Task Force in June 1998, titled "Overview of the Teaching of Elementary Social Studies and Secondary History Within the Anglophone Community of the Province of Quebec: A Report by the History Task Force." The 71-page report concluded that history was being taught by teachers who may lack their own adequate historical knowledge and were forced by budgetary constraints to use textual material that was dated.
