Abstract |
The author examines sixty-four French language novels and thirty English language novels on how Montreal was explained. She points out that presence of Mount Royal dominates most of these novels, symbolizing permanence and unity, but also a barrier between the city's two different geographical imaginaries -- the Anglophone West and the Francophone East.
