Abstract |
A history of Grosse Île, down-river from Quebec City, and Partridge Island in St. John Harbour, New Brunswick. These two quarantine stations were opened in the early nineteenth century in an attempt to stop the spread of cholera and typhoid carried by Irish and other immigrants arriving in Canada.
