Title
Montreal Anglophones: Social Distance and Emigration
Abstract
Using data from a 1978 survey of 332 English-speaking residents of Montreal, the author examines Anglophone emigration from Quebec with emphasis on both migrant selectivity and migrant motivation. Her data shows some evidence that social distance from Francophones may explain some of the variance in propensity to leave Quebec, among some elements of the Anglophone population.
