Abstract |
The author points out that architect David Robertson Brown (1869-1947) was Montreal's foremost exponent of Tudor Gothic style of architecture. Among the Montreal buildings that Brown designed incorporating the Tudor Gothic style are his own house at 2015 Crescent Street, built in 1905; the Medical Building at McGill University, built in 1908-1910; and the Southam Building at 1070 de Bleury Street, built in 1913-1914. Other Montreal architects also incorporated aspects of this architectural style, including D.N. MacVicar (1869-1929) and J.C.A. Heriot (1862-1921), former partners with Brown, A.T. Galt Durnford (1898-1973), Robert Findlay (1859-1951), and Harold Lea Fetherstonhaugh (1887-1971).
