Barney's Version : Une traduction mise en échec
|
| Abstract |
A critique of the 1999 French translation of Montreal author Mordecai Richler's 1997 novel, Barney's Version. Focusing on the hockey terms used in this "franco-française" translation by Bernard Cohen and released by the Paris publishing house Albin Michel, the author points out such wrongly translated names and phrases as Maurice "la Fusée" Richard; "les Feuilles d'érable" (the Maple Leafs); and "les Faucons" (the Chicago Black Hawks). The phrase "Phil Goyette was cross-checked by Stan Mikita" was translated as "Phil Goyette s'est fait crosser par Mikita".
