Title
Mapping the Changes: The Spatial Development of Industrial Montreal, 1861–1929
Abstract
The authors provide a glimpse of the complexity of mapping the historical industrial development in Montreal between the 1840s and 1929. They were contracted by the City of Montreal in 1991 to prepare an inventory of all industrial establishments that existed in the city during the period under review for spatial display. The authors describe the data and the maps of one industrial group (food and beverage), and all industries to describe some of the important spatial processes occurring in Montreal's industrialisation.
