Abstract
The Scottish-born William Henry Scott (1799-1851), a merchant and politician representing Saint-Eustache in the Legislative Assembly, was a supporter of the Patriote Party. He had four sons and a daughter by Marguerite-Maurice Paquet, a Catholic woman with whom he lived from 1829 but who refused to marry him because he was a Presbyterian. However, a marriage was solemnized two days before Scott died.
