Abstract
Award-winning American novelist Saul Bellow (1915-2005) was born in the Montreal suburb of Lachine. His parents had immigrated to Canada from Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1913. When Bellow was nine, his parents moved to Chicago. Among his writing awards, Bellow won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1976.
