Abstract |
The Day Nursery and Industrial School of Montreal was founded in 1888 under the sponsorship of Reverend Dr. Barnes. Its purpose was to care for the children of working mothers. During its first summer of operation, it became associated with the city's YWCA, and in 1900 it became an independent agency and reincorporated under the name "Montreal Day Nursery". Today it is known as "CPE de Jour de Montréal/Montreal Day Nursery".
