Abstract |
The Quebec Women's Institute was founded in 1911 by Elizabeth Ann Beach in the Eastern Townships village of Dunham. The purpose of the QWI is to encourage "the development of agriculture, interest in homemaking, family living and welfare of children and young people, preservation of national traditions of handicrafts and promotion of educational measures and a true spirit of patriotism and international understanding."
