Abstract |
The author outlines the introduction of the Aryshire dairy cow to the Chateauguay Valley. She focuses on two families -- the Ness and the McArthur families -- and their roles in advancing the dairy industry in the valley. Ayrshire cows from Scotland were first introduced in the farm of the Scottish-born Robert Ness of Howick, Quebec, in 1853.
