Abstract |
Robert Pennoyer (1614-1680), son of Robert Pennoyer, immigrated in 1635 from England to Boston, Massachusetts, moving later to New Amsterdam, New York, and by 1648 to Stamford, Connecticut. Jesse Pennoyer (1760-1825), direct descendant in the fifth generation, was born in Amenia, Dutchess County, New York and served with the colonists (partly in Canada) during the Revolutionary War. After the war, he immigrated to Compton County, Quebec, and before 1799 married Martha Ferguson (the daughter of a United Empire Loyalist). Descendants and relatives lived in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and elsewhere.
