Abstract |
An examination of the character and works of the Eastern Townships-born painter Frederick Simpson Coburn (1871-1960), and the impact that the region had on Coburn's and other painters' works. From 1890 until 1916, Coburn lived in Europe, where he worked as an illustrator. In 1916 he returned to the Eastern Townships and focussed on painting winter scenes.
