Abstract |
The author discusses the mystery behind the exile and death of Noel Hill Bowen (1828-1872), the son of a prominent Quebec City family (his father, Edward Bowen, was the first Chief Justice of the Quebec Superior Court) who left Quebec for Chicago in 1872 following financial problems at home, and died in that U.S. city later that year. He is buried in Quebec City's Mount Hermon Cemetery.
