Abstract |
A study of the two and a half century history of Quebec City’s Methodist, Congregational, Presbyterian and United Church congregations that now make-up the city's Chalmers-Wesley United Church. The author outlines Quebec City's great shipbuilders – Thomas Hamilton Oliver and John Munn – and the Gibb, Ross, Webster, Holt and Renfrew families, who played key roles in the economic development of the city and in the various churches that are now embodied in Chalmers-Wesley.
