Abstract |
The fictional exploits of a nineteenth century Irish wanderer and adventurer. The book contains several chapters on life in Quebec City in the early 1800s. One chapter describes the seedy and brutal underworld of Quebec's Lower Town which was inhabited mainly by poor Irish immigrants. The Irish-born author visited Quebec City in the late 1840s. The description of Quebec City in The Confessions of Con Cregan are based on the author's stay in the colonial town.
