| Abstract |
The author argues that Gwethalyn Graham's 1944 award-winning novel, Earth and High Heaven, which depicts an interfaith romance between a Protestant woman from Montreal and a Jewish man from Northern Ontario, is more than just a dime-novel romance or a socio-political statement on prejudice. She argues that a closer reading of the novel reveals that it is highly self-reflexive about its status as romantic fiction.
