Academic and Vocational Aspirations and Social Adjustment of Chinese Students Attending a Montreal High School
|
| Abstract |
The author examines the academic commitments and vocational aspirations of ninety-four male and female students of Chinese origin, some Canadian-born and the others foreign born, who were attending the High School of Montreal, an inner-city school, in the mid-1970s. Compared to the other students at the school, the author found that the Chinese students displayed strong educational commitment and achievement in spite of the negative school environment.
