Title
Anna Canfield (1772-1825), pionnière des Cantons-de-l’Est
Abstract
The author points out that the history of the colonisation of the Eastern Townships is relatively well known in broad terms. However, the story of the individual lives of the pioneers of this region remains largely untold. The author focuses on Anna Canfield (1772-1825), the wife of Gilbert Hyatt, as one of those who have been forgotten. But who exactly was this woman, now overlooked in regional historiography? The author offers some initial avenues for research into this regional pioneer.
