Title
Inventory of Cemeteries in the MRC d'Argenteuil: Final Report
Abstract
The MRC d'Argenteuil consists of the following villages: Brownsburg-Chatham, Gore, Grenville, Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, Harrington, Lachute, Mille-Isles, Saint-André-d’Argenteuil (originally St. Andrew's East) , and Wentworth. There were fifty-seven cemeteries and butial sites within this MRC area in the early 2000s, but, according to the report, seven have since disappeared ( but their existence has been confirmed through documentary research and testimony). The religious afficilations of those cemeteries that are not privately-owned or family burial sites are: Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Congregationalist, and Catholic. The report notes the scale and pace of the decline of rural Anglophone communities over the last half century, with only orphaned graveyards left behind to mark their presence.
