Abstract |
Montreal's St. Mary's Hospital was founded in 1924 by Sister Helen Morrissey and Dr. Donald A. Hingston, and funded largely through donations from the city's Irish community. It's opening was described as a "monument to English Catholicism in Montreal." Today the hospital serves a multi-ethnic clientele in both English and French, and is also a teaching hospital affiliated with McGill University.
