Abstract |
Timothy Anglin (1822-1896), the Irish-born journalist and politician from New Brunswick, and Thomas D'Arcy McGee (1825-1868), the Irish-born journalist and politician from Montreal, sparred over the union of the British North American colonies into a Confederation. McGee strongly supported the union while Anglin did not see Confederation as benefiting New Brunswick. Both also vied for the unofficial leadership of the Irish in British North America.
