|
| Abstract |
The author outlines the brief partnership between Montreal's English-speaking Tory element and the predominately French-speaking Patriote Party in 1826 in order to obtain a municipal charter for the city. Following the general election of 1834, the two groups had a falling out which led to the annulment of the charter.
