Title
Préserver l'illisible : présences de Sholem Shtern dans la vie littéraire canadienne
Abstract
An examination of the writings of Sholem Shtern, who emigrated from Poland to Montreal in 1927 at the age of twenty, and who published many collections of poetry and essays in Canada in the yiddish language. The author discusses how the archives of immigrant writers like Shtern, held in such public institutions as the Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa, are preserved and made known when these writers did not express themselves in either of Canada's official languages.
