| Abstract |
A history of the Canadian Jewish press arranged chronologically: 1887-1917, 1918-1945, 1946-1970, and 1971-1989. Montreal's first Jewish newspaper was the Jewish Times, which began publication on December 10, 1897. The first editor of the newspaper was Carroll Ryan (1839-1910), a Toronto-born poet and journalist. He remained editor of the newspaper until he died in 1910.
