A pamphlet, written by a prominent nineteenth century Montreal businessman and public official, claiming that he, in 1846, was the first person to advocate the economic necessity and technical feasibility of bridging the St. Lawrence River at Montreal. The bridge -- the Victoria Bridge -- was completed in 1859.
