Abstract |
Concerns the arrival of eighty female Irish immigrants to Montreal in May 1865. According to the Montreal Transcript newspaper of Tuesday, May 16, 1865: "On Saturday, about 80 stout and healthy looking girls arrived here by the steamer from Quebec, having been passengers to this country by the steamship St. David, now in port. They were taken in charge of by Mr. Daly , the emigration agent, and by him forwarded to their several destinations." A similar news item appeared in the Montreal Witness on May 17, 1865.
