Editorial Reactions of Ten Canadian Dailies to the FLQ Crisis of 1970

Abstract |
The kidnapping of a foreign diplomat and the murder of a Quebec politician in 1970 by a Quebec terrorist group known as the Front de libération du Québec (FLQ) lead the federal government to impose the War Measures Act. The author measures and compares the editorial reactions of ten metropolitan Canadian newspapers, including three from Montreal -- The Montreal Star, La Presse and Le Devoir -- to the events that took place during this crisis.
