Abstract |
Mary Sollace Saxe (1868-1942) was the librarian at the Westmount Public Library from 1901 to 1931. A graduate of McGill University and New York's Columbia University, she was the second person to hold the position of librarian at Westmount Library, which opened in 1899. Under Sollace Saxe's leadership, Westmount Library improved its services to users, inaugurating a children's library in 1911, a reference service in 1922, and free access to collections by users. She was also the author of the children's book, Our Little Quebec Cousin (Boston: The Page Company, 1919), as well as six one-act plays.
