Abstract |
A history of the transformation of a sparsely populated area on Montreal's South Shore into one of the city's bilingual bedroom suburbs. The author sketches the early land deals, the first roads, and the building of homes, schools, churches and businesses by prominent families in the town. The extension of the Montreal and Southern Counties Railway in 1912 to Greenfield Park enabled the residents to commute to jobs in Montreal.
