Learning Out of Bounds: Montreal’s British and Canadian School Kindled Reformist Dreams of Liberal Education
|
Abstract |
In 1826, James O’Donnell, the architect of Montreal’s new Notre Dame Church, drew up the plans for the non-denominational British and Canadian School that was built by John Redpath and opened the following September at the corner of Lagauchetière and Coté Streets in the heart of what is now Chinatown. The building still stands.
