Thomas Storrow Brown et le soulèvement de 1837 dans le Bas-Canada

Abstract |
A biographical sketch of Thomas Storrow Brown (1803-1888), a member of the Patriote rebels who was appointed as a "general" at the battle of St. Charles-sur-Richelieu (November 25, 1837). Lacking both leadership and organizational skills, Brown snuck away from the battlefield on the pretence of searching for reinforcements and went to St. Denis before fleeing to the United States. He returned to Montreal after amnesty was proclaimed in 1844. This essay contains a reprint of "Memorandum of Lower Canada Affairs in 1837" outlining the rebels' justification for the uprising.
