Vitality Indicators for Official Language Minority Communities 2 : Three English-Speaking Communities in Quebec: The English-Speaking Community of Québec City
|
Abstract |
The vitality indicators studied for Quebec City were: Youth; Health and Social Services; Arts and Culture; and Economic Development. The researchers found that the predominant concern expressed by English-speakers in Quebec City during this study was the question of renewal: how to enhance the vitality of the community so that youth see a future in terms of working and living in the place where they grew up. A second element that emerged in the discussions from all sectors is the need for better capacity and more effective community organization. The third element that was mentioned consistently in the discussions was the need for the English-speaking community to engage in outreach, both within and outside their community.
