Title
The Transition From Denominational to Linguistic School Boards in Quebec
Abstract
In April 1997, the Governments of Quebec and Canada, through a constitutional amendment, eliminated all denominational rights and privileges respecting schools in the province and replaced denominational school boards with English and French linguistic boards. The author examines the nature of this transition on what is now the Eastern Shores School Board, the English-language board serving the Gaspé Peninsula, the Magdalen Islands and the Quebec North Shore.
