Abstract |
English-French relations in Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon. The first European settlers in St-Gabriel were Scottish and Irish. In 1783, Jesse Armstrong was the first to obtain a vast piece of land at the lake, in the Lanaudière domain. Several Irishmen followed Mr. Armstrong's example. In 1819, the first French-Canadian settlers moved into the area.
