Abstract |
A biography of Thomas Shaw Chapman (1824-1912), an Anglican missionary-minister in Dudswell, in the Eastern Townships County of Richmond. In 1849, Shaw served as a chaplain at the Grosse Île quarantine station at the time that the Irish famine survivors were arriving in Quebec. The author includes excerpts from Chapman's diary during his period at the station.
