Abstract |
The Montreal Foot Ball Club was the city's first football team. It was founded on April 8, 1872 and played until 1915. In 1919, following an absence of football in the city during the war years, the Winged Wheelers of the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA) was the city's football team. It existed until 1935. From 1936 until 1946, there were a series of non-descript Montreal teams with names such as the Cubs, Indians, Royals, Bulldogs, and Hornets, but in 1946 the Montreal Alouettes team was born. The team has folded and been revived twice.
