| Abstract |
An election speech in support of the federal Conservative government of Sir John A. Macdonald, given before a crowd of party supporters in the Irish sector of Quebec City. The author, a popular Irish Montreal lawyer, served as the Conservative representative for the Montreal Centre riding from 1882 to 1895, and served as Canada's first Solicitor-General from 1892 to 1895. Following his political career, he served as a judge on the Quebec Superior Court for the district of Montreal until his death in 1909.
