Abstract |
The authors interviewed 862 Anglophone youths in 1976 who had graduated high school in 1971. They calculated that 31 percent had left Quebec by 1976. Of these, 51 percent had moved to Ontario. They also found upon a closer examination of the mother tongue / knowledge of French emigration relationships reveals that it is the mother tongue, more than the knowledge of French, that influences the propensity of these Anglophone youth to leave Quebec.
