An examination of the law office structure and strategy of five nineteenth century Montreal firms that dominated the city’s English-language bar during the Confederation period. The firms studied by the author are: Frederick Griffin, Advocate; Rose and Monk; Monk and Buchanan; Badgley and Abbott; and Torrance and Morris.
