Poet and literary critic John Sutherland (1919-1956) was the editor of the Montreal-based little magazines First Statement (1942-1945) and Northern Review (1945-1956). In 1947 he edited Other Canadians: An Anthology of New Poetry in Canada, 1940–46, a collection of Canadian modernist poetry.
