Abstract |
An examination of the integration of Montreal's Jewish community into the "Québécois" society in the 1980s. The author notes that the city's Jewish community lives in segregated areas of the city and have integrated into the English-speaking community, notwithstanding the fact that half of the Jewish population is bilingual (English and French). The author also notes the middle-class and professional status within the Jewish community, giving it a "privileged position" on the Quebec socio-economic ladder.
