Abstract |
Reaction of the Montreal Daily Witness, the Montreal Herald and the Montreal Gazette to artist William Brymner's 1892 painting "In County Cork, Ireland." The Scottish-born Brymner (1855-1925) moved with his parents in 1857 to Melbourne, Lower Canada, In 1864 the family moved to Montreal, and in 1872 to Ottawa. Brymner studied art in Montreal and in Europe. In 1886 he was appointed Director of the Art Association of Montreal's school of art, a position he held until his retirement in 1921.
