Abstract |
The goal of this June 2011 report is to serve as a useful primer in terms of recent research on Quebec's English-language communities. Specifically, the author looks at demographics, economic impacts, political and legal impacts, and culture in relation to Quebec's English minority. The author attempts to summarize key findings on these factors that have an impact on community vitality and that could have implications for policy makers in the future. The author argues that the information provided underscores the fact that Quebec's English-language communities face the unique challenge of being a minority within a minority and that these special circumstances must be taken into consideration by policy makers in the development of strategies designed to promote the province's English-language communities' well-being.
